The criminal justice and law enforcement program is for students planning to concentrate in the law enforcement area of the criminal justice system. In this program, students will prepare for administrative and law enforcement management positions with municipal, county, state and federal agencies. The training offered through this program meets the requirements of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.

AS: Criminal Justice Technology

The two-year Associate in Science degree in Criminal Justice Technology is designed for individuals who seek a career in law enforcement, corrections, criminalistics, or community-based control functions. It is also designed for people who are currently employed in those fields and want to improve their skills for career development.

Advanced Report Writing #068

  • DESCRIPTION: This 40-hour advanced training course is designed to provide focused review and practice of the basic elements necessary for effective writing of narrative reports by criminal justice officers.
  • TUITION: Region XIV Trust Funded
  • TO ENROLL: Monroe County Deputies, Key West Police Officers, Key Colony Beach Police Officers and SAO Investigators must contact their Training Divisions.  Region 14 Officers have first priority.  Region 15 State Officers must have letter of intent to make reciprocal payment on file with this training center prior to admission to class. Sworn federal officers may attend on a space available basis. Enrollment is capped at 25 students.

FIRST AID INSTRUCTOR

  • DESCRIPTION: This 40-hour specialized training course is designed for an individual to become certified CMS First Aid instructor and to instruct at certified training centers and In-Service training. Attendees must have a minimum of three years work experience as law enforcement or correctional officer and should possess a general instructor certification. Attendees should also be a certified CPR instructor with the American Heart Association, National Safety Council, or the American Safety and Health Institute.

INTERVIEWS AND INTERROGATIONS #047

Basic Abilities Test (BAT)

Effective August 15, 2019, the Basic Abilities Test (BAT) will be conducted through PearsonVue Testing Centers.

To register, go to www.pearsonvue.com
Once you click on the link you will complete the following:

  1. Create an account with PearsonVue
  2. Locate the exam (this will be under Florida Department of Law Enforcement FDLE)
  3. Locate a PearsonVue Testing Center closest to your location
  4. Choose a test date and time
  5. Pay for exam

You will receive a confirmation email once completed.  There will be no same day scheduling of exam so schedule the exam in a timely manner.

 

 As of July 1, 2022, section 943.17(1)(g) states that any candidate wishing to enter a law enforcement academy that either (i) is a veteran as classified in section 1.01(14), F.S., or (ii) holds an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university is not required to take the Law Enforcement Basic Abilities Test. Please note that veteran is defined as being honorably discharged from military service. No other discharge classifications qualify. Please note that this does not apply to candidates wishing to enter a corrections academy.
