AS: Criminal Justice Technology
The two-year Associate in Science degree in Criminal Justice Technology is designed for individuals who seek a career in law enforcement, corrections, criminalistics, or community-based control functions. It is also designed for people who are currently employed in those fields and want to improve their skills for career development. This program does not lead to basic certification or employability as a law enforcement or correctional officer. Credits for current officers:
CFK’s A.S. in Criminal Justice Technology will prepare officers for promotion to a supervisory capacity or assignment to specialized units within their agencies. Individuals who have completed the Florida Law Enforcement Recruit Training academy or the Correctional Officer Recruit Training academy and passed the State Officer Certification Examination (SOCE) will receive credit for their success (24 credits for law enforcement and 12 credits for corrections).
Coursework:
To earn an A.S. Criminal Justice Technology degree, students must earn sixty (60) credits. Students must complete twenty-one (21) credit hours of general education courses, thirty-three (33) credit hours of core requirements, and six (6) elective credit hours and meet the College’s success competency requirement*. To meet the college success competency, students must provide evidence that documents the successful completion of a student life skills course. Students can also demonstrate equivalent college success competence via alternative methods as described by the College.
